What's on your iPod?: Music including Cake, Keane, and The Postal Service; lots of podcasts including NPR's "Science Friday", and episodes of "The Office."
What's your most unusual or impressive skill?: I love to do crafts, particularly sewing and knitting.
What are your favorite books?: They include The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson and Travels by Michael Crichton. Most of my favorite books are non-fiction.
What motivates you to continue working at Nestlé Purina?: It continues to be the people and the culture that motivates me at Nestlé Purina. The longer I have been here and gotten to know my colleagues, the more motivating it is to be working as part of a strong team achieving great results.
What has been the most rewarding thing about working at Nestlé Purina?: The most rewarding thing about working at Nestlé Purina is the friendships that are cultivated here through the culture. Although it is also very exciting to see the products you work on come to life when you visit national retailers or in national television ads and media.
What do you wish you would have known about Nestlé Purina while you were searching for a job?: I wish that I would have realized what a fun category pet care is in which to work. If someone is wondering what it is like to be in marketing at Nestlé Purina, they should ask their friends how they feel about their pets. It is always fun to talk to our consumers and know that we are helping them to take care of their pets and live a healthy lifestyle together.
What is the most gratifying component about your current role?: The most gratifying part of my job is the ownership and accountability. It is exciting and rewarding to know that my ideas and opinions really matter and can make a difference.
What exciting projects have you worked on?: I have had the opportunity to work on many exciting projects, ranging from packaging development for a new item, Naturals from Purina® Cat Chow® brand to business planning meetings with top customer teams like Wal-Mart and Petsmart.
How have you been able to use your past experience or knowledge in your current role?: My past experience was in an entrepreneurial environment, and I have found brand management to be very similar with responsibility for the overall business performance. A job that varies from day to day requires you to take on many different roles and tasks and allows you to work with teams across the company.
What has Nestlé Purina done to help you develop professionally or personally?: During my time at Nestlé Purina, I have had numerous opportunities for training and continued development. Often times, these training programs have been held literally with “the guy who wrote the book.” Access to these best-in-class professional development opportunities wouldn’t come in a company that wasn’t willing to dedicate time and resources to invest in their employees.
When you're out on the town, where are we most likely to run into you?: At an independent movie at the Chase or the Tivoli, at the Schlafly microbrewery events, or at my favorite sushi restaurant.
