What made you choose to work for Nestlé Purina? What makes you stay at Nestlé Purina?
The opportunity to work for a global organization that appreciates the input and value of employees at all levels in the organization. The community feeling that exists at Nestlé Purina is something that can be felt from the time you step on campus. The reason I have stayed with Nestlé Purina is the sense that my work adds value to the organization and my input is heard by all levels of management.
What's your favorite or most rewarding part of working for Nestlé Purina?
I think the most rewarding part of working for Nestlé Purina is the ability to work for a company that believes in corporate responsibility and has a presence in the local community.
How has Nestlé Purina helped you grow professionally?
Nestlé Purina has helped me grow professionally as I am constantly challenged. I started with Nestlé Purina as an Advanced Staff Auditor where my biggest challenge was learning the Nestlé business and applying my previous internal audit experience to a completely new industry. I was promoted to Senior Auditor after a year where my new challenges included leading teams, developing team members, and ensuring all deadlines are hit. Two years later, I was promoted to Audit Manager where I have a new challenge of providing guidance to audit teams, developing relationships with my assigned operating companies, and ensuring the development of staff.
Walk us through your typical day at the office.
I do not have a "typical" day at the office, which is why I love my current job. I am continuously working on internal audit reviews that typically have a three week time frame. In addition to the performance of audits, I have responsibility for our summer intern program, fraud and forensic investigations, and coordinating the annual Swiss Code of Obligations project for Nestlé North America.
What's something about working with Nestlé Purina that has surprised you?
The ideas of all people are heard. The title you have in the company does not determine if your ideas are considered.
What is the most exciting thing you are involved in outside of work?
I have started a new hobby of home brewing as I have become a beer snob.
What items in your office could you not live without?
I have a collection of Etch-A-Sketch artwork that my father-in-law "Mr. Etch-A-Sketch" did of my favorite sports team logos. They are a great conversation starter and they remind me of being home.
What's your favorite place in St. Louis to relax and unwind?
I enjoy a nice round of golf at any of the local courses.
What's your favorite quotation?
"It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently." -Warren Buffet
What's the most thrilling vacation you ever took?
My wife and I visited Moorea, an island in French Polynesia near Tahiti, for our honeymoon. It was a great place to relax with lots of scenery.
