What made you choose to work for Nestlé Purina? What makes you stay at Nestlé Purina?
I wanted to work here because Nestlé Purina PetCare Company’s CheckMark represented a new opportunity in advertising and marketing for me…an area of the field that I had not worked in before. New challenges are met with collaborative problem-solving, and this illustrates the collegial environment that I found upon joining the firm - one of the things I really value about working here.
If you knew then, what you know now, what’s one piece of advice you would give to someone coming into the company?
"Forget what you think you know about pet food and pet food marketing…" The category is far more complex; far more sophisticated than the casual observer might imagine.
What are your long-term career goals at Nestlé Purina?
I would like to continue to provide our clients with creative solutions based on sound strategic thinking that really drive brand successes in the marketplace.
What are some perks at Nestlé Purina that you enjoy?
Well, nothing is better than being able to bring my dog to work with me and playing with her in the dog park here on campus. I also like the on-premise gym and company store.
Describe your experience working at Nestlé Purina in one word.
Fulfilling
What items in your office could you not live without?
Computer. Stapler. Phone. Fish sculpture. Pix of my dog. Bowl of SuperBalls™. Uniball® Microball™ pens in black. Paperclips.
What’s one hidden skill or talent you have that would surprise your coworkers?
I’m remarkably handy around the house. I have a hammer and a table saw and I know how to use them. Oh, and I’m not bad with a paintbrush and a canvas, either.
What’s the most thrilling vacation you ever took?
Driving from St. Louis to San Francisco and back. I saw things that made me appreciate the topography and geography of the western United States that was so surprising and so powerfully unexpected. I have loved trips to Europe and to Australia, but that journey west was spectacular.
What’s the last book you read?
Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I think I am the last person alive to have read this book. It was worth the wait. Fortunately, I was able to read it on a Kindle, so I didn’t have to lug that 48-pound book all over the place.
How has Nestlé Purina PetCare Company helped you grow personally?
Really, the entire organization is so passionately driven to provide all kinds of innovative solutions to help us care for our pets that it is difficult to not get swept up in that passion. It’s very contagious.
