What made you choose to work for Nestlé Purina? What makes you stay at Nestlé Purina?

Before I began working for Nestlé Purina, I was looking for a place where I could truly be passionate about my work. When you work for a company where pets are at the core of what you do on a day-to-day basis, you can’t help but put feeling into your work. That was what was most inspiring about the prospect of working here, and it’s the reason why I’m still here today.

What’s your favorite or most rewarding part of working for Nestlé Purina?

My favorite and most rewarding part of working for Nestlé Purina is being able to walk into a pet food retailer and see my work on the shelf. There’s something very exciting about being able to hold a product—or even a coupon—in my hands and be able to say, "Hey, I wrote that." It’s a reward for all the hard work that was put into it.

What’s something about working with Nestlé Purina that has surprised you?

In my time at Nestlé Purina, I’ve been surprised by how passionate I’ve become about pets. I didn’t grow up with any and didn’t own my first one until a year and a half ago, so I’m surprised at how the love for pets is so contagious here. The unofficial motto that I’ve heard from time to time around the office is “pets make our lives better.” I couldn’t agree more.

What are some perks at Nestlé Purina that you enjoy?

My favorite Nestlé Purina perk is being able to bring my dog to work. When I’m working on an assignment, there’s nothing better than having my inspiration right at my feet. And when he isn’t in the office, there’s bound to be another dog right around the corner or down the hall.

What items in your office could you not live without?

My black notebook. It’s full of meeting notes, to-do lists, random thoughts and pages and pages of words. It’s where all my ideas are born.

If you weren’t doing your current job, what would you be doing?

I’m a bit of a scrapbooking fanatic, so if I weren’t doing my current job, I’d find some way to become a professional scrapbooker.

What’s the most thrilling vacation you ever took?

Visiting the island of Oahu in Hawaii. We took the road less traveled and spent most of our time beach-hopping along all sides of the island. Every beach had its own personality—the size of the waves, the texture of the sand, the direction of the wind, the colors of the water. It was relaxing and exhilarating all at the same time.

How has Nestlé Purina PetCare Company helped you grow personally?

From the time I was a freshman in college, I knew I wanted to be an advertising copywriter. But I also knew the field was a tough one to break into. Working for CheckMark has given me a chance to prove myself—to myself. It has instilled a confidence in me that has given me personal strength. I know there are people here that are rooting for me, and we’re all rooting for each other. It’s the confidence in each other that makes us confident in our craft.
