SENIOR INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER
What made you choose to work at Nestlé Purina?
The ability to work in a variety of roles, the extensive training program, and the opportunities for newer associates in management positions. Also, the history of the company and the years it had been around made it feel secure.
What has been the most advantageous opportunity provided to you at Nestlé Purina?
The training program I went through in Davenport, IA was very extensive and gave me the opportunity to learn the entire operation from buying, to manufacturing, to warehousing. The knowledge I gained from that has helped me throughout my career.
What has been the most rewarding thing about working at Nestlé Purina?
The people I work with, the opportunities to work on many cross-functional teams, and the fact I get to bring my puppy to work!
Describe your greatest experience with Nestlé Purina.
I love telling people I get to take my puppy to work ... no one ever believes it!!!
What do you wish you would have known about Nestlé Purina while you were searching for a job?
The opportunities available throughout the company as a whole. You see many people move through different positions in the company, not just working in the area they studied in school.
What is the most gratifying component about your current role?
Working with many different people at all the plant locations.
What exciting projects have you worked on?
Our department purchased a simulation software package that I got to learn and have used in various applications to help plants improve the design of systems, and also to help our department when planning new capital designs
How have you been able to use your past experience or knowledge in your current role?
My first few years working in the Davenport and Clinton factories have provided me a lot of knowledge of factory operations in my current role.
What has Nestlé Purina done to help you develop professionally or personally?
I have attended several classes and workshops on leadership. I’ve also been to several technical workshops related to engineering.
How has Nestlé Purina supported your work-life balance?
In 1999 I had a medical need and my boss was very supportive on giving me the time off I needed. In general, I feel Nestlé supports family first and provides support and flexible hours when needed.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?
Golf and take my puppy on hikes.
When you're out on the town, where are we most likely to run into you?
Doggie park.
