Engineering
Joining the Engineering Team provides a challenging applied technology opportunity to impact operations in a rapidly growing and changing environment. We recognize the value of implementing technology to make high quality and innovative pet products.
Our Engineers work to support the manufacturing of Purina's dry and wet pet food as well as clay and paper litter. They are technical experts in fields such as extrusion, materials engineering, packaging, or environmental engineering, or they can primarily manage cross-functional projects and/or teams comprised of these technical experts.
The Corporate Engineering team is a full service engineering group offering integrated solutions within Nestlé Purina. The Corporate Engineering staff supports our plants across the country by managing large projects and serving as technical specialists in areas such as manufacturing software development, process engineering and improvement, Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles, controls engineering and power generation, architecture and structural design and packaging engineering and implementation.
Our Corporate Engineering groups are involved in each phase of product and process development including the development of new products, scale up and commercialization, as well as the execution of engineering projects directly impacting current manufacturing operations.
The Plant Engineering team is comprised of Staff Engineers at each of our plant locations throughout the United States. These Engineers are responsible for the management and execution of projects at their respective locations. Projects can involve many facets including facilities upgrades, plant instrumentation and controls, new equipment installations, existing equipment modifications and plant layout and configuration.
Plant Engineers are responsible for projects from development of the concept to selecting and negotiating with vendors and commissioning and start-up activities. Plant Engineers have the ability to complete full cycle project management. Engineers have a variety of academic backgrounds to include Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical and Agricultural Engineering.
Staff Engineers work closely with other groups at the manufacturing facility such as Quality and Production in the identification and implementation of projects. They also maintain a close relationship with Corporate Engineering in the utilization of specialist engineering resources that may be beneficial for some projects.
Engineers come into Purina at various career levels and have many opportunities for movement and growth both within Purina and Nestlé as a whole. As a multinational corporation, the size and scope of Nestlé's operations allow for movement between existing and new facilities, so being open to relocation (including international locations) opens even more doors.
