THE ENVIRONMENT
Responsible manufacturing and land restoration
Nestlé Purina supports environmental sustainable practices such as energy and water conservation. We're dedicated to building our business in a way that is supportive of the environment.
Nestlé Purina's Davenport plant launched a pilot "green" manufacturing facility. The facility uses less energy and reduces its pesticide use through a groundbreaking integrated "green" pest-management program.
Nestlé Purina also helps the environment by restoring lands previously used in mining operations. Some of the areas that Nestlé Purina has reclaimed have been used as wetlands, lakes, grassy fields, and forests, and for agricultural purposes.
In addition, from 2001 to 2006, Nestlé North America:
- reduced energy consumption by 29% and CO2 gases by 36% per ton produced
- reduced water 47% per ton produced
- reduced packaging total waste 47% per ton produced, including overall recycled and disposed of product waste
